Residents of the Chinese village of Xianfeng lure monkeys to the village to attract more tourists. The idea was copied from another Chinese village, Emei Shan, where the wild monkeys are a major tourist attraction. At first, the plan also seemed to succeed in Xianfang. More tourists came because of the monkeys. In addition, they had also found an investor for this self-created nature park. Things got out of hand when the investor died. There was no money left to support the monkeys and the group of monkeys continued to expand, which resulted in a plague of monkeys. This also kept the tourists away. The government intervened and returned half of the monkeys to the wild. Now we have to wait for the other half to leave.
