On 10 October 2013 the fourth edition of the Award for the best learning moment in development cooperation takes place.

The Institute of Brilliant Failures embraces the best learning moments in development cooperation (YOU) and also encourages your organization to reflect on lessons learned, innovative and experimental initiatives.

This year we are looking for a small number of show cases: projects and initiatives that embody the philosophy of the Institute of Brilliant Failures – with the best intentions and good preparation, get unexpected results, which leads to a learning moment. The cases will be discussed and presented in detail during Partos Plaza on 10 October. Following the discussion, the public will choose the best case.

A brilliant failure meets the following conditions:

  • good intention: You put yourself with the best – not at the expense of others or society – intentions to achieve a goal.
  • Good preparation: You prepared yourself as well as possible with the knowledge that was available at the time.
  • Different result than planned: You have not reached the original target of your bet. The result was different than planned.
  • A teaching moment: U (your organisation) has learned from it and others can learn from it. In addition, your attempts, perseverance and dare to inspire others to new attempts.

The Award is an initiative of the Institute for Brilliant Failures in collaboration with SPARK, and supported by Partos.
