A recent graduation thesis by Deborah Unen, VU Amsterdam, supports the earlier findings of the IvBM (www.tweedekans.nl) that entrepreneurs who go bankrupt and start up again are often more successful than, for example, beginners.

The right strategy according to van Unen: dwell on the loss, face the mistakes and focus on the future. And also: do not attribute the mistakes to one's own person. One interviewee compared it to sports: “you can be relegated once, But that doesn't mean you can't play football.". What doesn't work: do not take time for reflection and immediately move on to another company. Also staying too long in the emotional loss is counterproductive.
