The intention

Apple founder Steve Jobs – like many other pioneers and entrepreneurs – has no easy road to success. But do you speak of a brilliant failure in this case?? Judge yourself. In any case, he has known many failures in his life where he himself would have liked to have achieved a different result.

The approach

A glimpse of the life of Steve Jobs:

Education and study
Jobs grew up with foster parents. His mother was an unmarried student, who dreaded motherhood and therefore sought an adoptive family. She had one important condition for the foster parents: make sure the child can go to university later. His foster parents, who weren't very rich, put aside every dime to fulfill this wish. Thanks to that drive to save, Jobs started studying at Reed College when he was 17. Within half a year he couldn't see it anymore.

In that year he took 'completely useless' lectures that seemed interesting to him, like calligraphy.

Apple – Working from the garage
A few jobs and a spiritual journey to India (1974, hippie-time) later, Jobs started Apple Computer Co . with Steve Wozniak at the age of 20. They worked out of Jobs' parents' garage.

The result

Education and study
He had no idea what he wanted with his life and the university couldn't help him answer this question: he became a drop out. Jobs continued to roam the campus for another year. He slept on the floor with friends and collected returnable bottles for pocket money.

Ten years later, when Jobs developed the first Macintosh computer with Steve Wozniak, he applied that 'useless' knowledge. The Mac became the first computer with multiple fonts.

Apple – Success and dismissal!
A few jobs and a spiritual journey to India (1974, hippie-time) later, Jobs started Apple Computer Co . with Steve Wozniak at the age of 20. They worked out of Jobs' parents' garage. Ten years later, in 1985, the company had a turnover of $ 2 billion and were there 4.000 employees. Jobs, it then 30 year old media icon, gets fired. It's a painful one, public humiliation.

The lessons

The lesson Jobs learned from his life experiences and choices: trust the connections between points in your life (connecting the dots). “Looking back there is a consistency in what you have done in your life. You cannot see this coherence when you are in the middle of it and not at all when you try to look ahead.”

As for his resignation: He's been very upset for a few months, but he realizes that he really likes working with new technologies. He starts again. He starts Pixar with a number of people, an animation studio that became famous with the film 'Finding Nemo'. He also puts on NeXT, a software company that 1996 being acquired by Apple. Jobs returns 1997 back at Apple as company CEO.
