In charge of your own uterus: embolization of fibroids

Since 2013 gynecologists have been required to discuss embolization with patients as a possible treatment for their fibroids. However, hysterectomie, removal of the uterus, remains the most common non-drug treatment for patients with a fibroid. Thanks to perverse incentives in our healthcare system, only 100 of the 8000-9000 patients choose embolization, the less invasive option.

Burn letter embolization of fibroids

Women can decide for themselves in our country. They have had the right to vote for over a hundred years and are boss in their own belly. But they are not yet masters in their own womb.

It cannot be true that thousands of women with a fibroid have their complete uterus removed every year, while there is an alternative treatment, which is less invasive and cheaper, that we've known this for years and that the practice still hasn't changed?

An urgent appeal to you to break the deadlock in the system and adjust the perverse incentive.
