Time and time again history has shown us that our most valuable experiences are more likely to come from mistakes than from successes. We learn from our failures and our failures are a source of inspiration for others. In this respect failure is not only an option but failure is also necessary!

The Institute of Brilliant Failures is a brainchild of Dialogues, an initiative of ABN-AMRO. Dialogues’ mission is to stimulate entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour (in the broadest sense of the word) by encouraging people to develop new ideas and enabling innovators to turn ideas into reality. However, these efforts could be wasted in a culture where failure is seen as unacceptable and few are prepared to take the necessary risk. Prof.dr. P. (Paul) Iske is the founder of the Institute of Brilliant Failures.
Paul is extraordinary professor Innovation and Business Venturing at the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University. He is Chief Dialogues Officer at ABN AMRO Bank, which includes the functions of Director of the Dialogues House and Dialogues Incubator. In this role, he stimulates entrepreneurial and innovative thinking and behavior within and outside ABN AMRO Bank. www.dialogueshouse.nl

Bas Ruyssenaars (MA) is a creative entrepreneur and innovation consultant. Bas strengthens both private and public organisations with creative strategy and concept development. Bas has been a driving force behind the Brilliant Faillure project right from the start in 2007, creating content and setting up workshops, awards and change programmes. He is a frequent publisher of articles in the context of brilliant failure thinking and innovation, jointly with Paul Iske. www.basruyssenaars.nl
